Exploring language and identity with Mother Tongues

When considering the benefits of multilingualism and the increasingly linguistically diverse profile of many countries worldwide, there is a pressing need to understand how to support children from linguistically diverse backgrounds to learn the majority language and maintain their home languages.

 

This course will:

•Introduce you to key aspects of multilingualism in early years settings.

•Encourage you to reflect on ways to embed multilingualism in your practice.

•Discuss research-based information.

•Share real-life examples.

•Suggest some practical tasks.

•Give you a toolkit with supporting resources.

Toolkit – the course comes with a toolkit with supporting resources. It is available when you complete section 1 and section 2. The toolkit share resources for a deeper dive. It also has links to videos, PDFs and ideas to implement in your setting.
