Course Outline
Explore the importance of outdoor pedagogy with Starting Small, Thinking Big, an eLearning programme developed specifically for educators working with children under two. Guided by Niki Buchan, an experienced nature pedagogue with 40 years of experience in Early Education, brings her experience and knowledge to support your learning journey and deepen your understanding of outdoor pedagogy. Niki is a strong advocate for children’s right to a quality childhood, including high levels of health and wellbeing, in a natural and healthy sustainable world.
Navigating the course
This course consists of four engaging lessons, each delivered through a series of bite-sized video and audio clips. As participants progress through the course, they will explore a wide range of topics that highlight the essential role of nature and outdoor play in the development of babies and toddlers. With reflective questions, research insights, and actionable strategies, this course is designed to enhance knowledge and practice in nurturing young children’s experiences with the natural world and outdoor environments.
